Museo do Pobo Galego (Santiago de Compostela)
29 January – 26 April 2026
We are delighted to present the poster for the forthcoming masks exhibition, made possible thanks to the collection Alas y Viento that Nacho Rovira has generously loaned to our MASKS project, which we are organising in collaboration with the Museo do Pobo Galego, a leading reference in European ethnographic heritage.
The exhibition creates a dialogue between masks from the territories in which we work through MASKS and those from other parts of the world. We should not forget that the mask is universal.
The exhibition image is a collage designed by Gaetano Armenio (Editrice L’Imagine). It brings together four masks from the territories in which the MASKS team works: Sărsăilă (Șivița, Galaţi, Romania), by Paul Buță; Cornute (Aliano, Basilicata, Italy), by Giuseppe Lombardi; Zangarrón (Montamarta, Zamora, Spain), by José Ramón Pérez Pérez; and Carocho (Constantim, Miranda do Douro, Bragança, Portugal), by Óscar Barros. It also features a mask from the Museo do Pobo Galego’s collection: Pelliqueiro (Laza, Ourense, Spain), by Richi.
Our thanks go to the outstanding craftspeople and to Jesús Caramanzana of Producciones Carrera by MASKS for the photographs.
