Mercado de Culturas... à Luz das Velas

Our partner, the Academia Ibérica da Máscara has organised an exhibition of Iberian masks in Lagoa (Algarve, Portugal) in the ninth edition of the event "Mercado de Culturas... à Luz das Velas" from the 4th to the 7th of July

The exhibition consists of 80 masks from the district of Bragança (Portugal) and the provinces of Zamora and León (Spain). The curator of the exhibition is Professor António Tiza, director of the Academy. The activity is an excellent opportunity for tourists, in addition to enjoying the sun and the beach, to have a quality cultural activity.

The theme of this edition is "TradiSons Ibérica". The Centro Cultural Convento de São José and the surrounding streets will receive thousands of visitors who will have at their disposal a wide multicultural programme, spread over several stages and streets.

More than 60 artisans, several musicians, from various cultures and religions around the world, will demonstrate their culture and tradition, among flavours, arts and customs, living together in perfect harmony. This multicultural event, with unique characteristics, aims to embrace the cultural and sonorous diversity of Iberian culture around the world: Fado, flamenco, medieval music, traditional Portuguese music, Alentejo singing, as well as folk music from Asturias and Galicia (Spain).
