Javier Sáiz Ortega recreates with his paintings the photographs taken by Miguel Ángel Cruz Sánchez of masked individuals at their festivities and various masked events.
The exhibition alternates between photographs and paintings representing masked figures from Spain and Portugal, specifically from Castilla y León, Extremadura, and Trás-os-Montes.
The José Luis Mosquera Municipal Center (Huerta del Rey) will host the exhibition from March 17 to March 31, 2025. At the Zona Este Municipal Center, it will be on display from June 16 to June 30, 2025.
Miguel Ángel Cruz possesses an extensive collection of high-quality photographs, which Javier Sáiz aims to continue recreating. Exhibiting in civic centers seems like an excellent idea to them because, according to Cruz, these are spaces for citizen participation, managed by local administrations. They are traditionally places where culture and art are promoted, and this artistic duo revolving around the mask fits perfectly with the philosophy of these centers.
